How it works

  1. Hold the phone near your cat and record a meow.
  2. The AI turns it into a playful phrase. It's for fun, not a literal translation.
  3. Switch to human-to-cat, say something, and play it back as cat sounds.
  4. Save the sounds you like and replay them during play or training.

Frequently asked questions

Does Cat Translator really understand what my cat is saying?

No app can truly translate cat language, and Cat Translator doesn't claim to. It's made for fun: the AI listens to a meow and turns it into a playful, human-style phrase. For what different meows usually signal, read our guide to what your cat's meows mean.

Can I talk back to my cat?

Yes. Speak into the app and it turns your voice into playful, AI-powered cat sounds you can play to your cat. You can save sounds and replay them later.

What else is in the app?

A soundboard of realistic meows, purrs and hisses, whistle tones designed for training and getting your cat's attention, and interactive games that play on your cat's curiosity.

Why does my cat react to some sounds and ignore others?

Cats tend to respond to new, cat-like sounds out of curiosity, but every cat is different. Keep the volume low and sessions short, and stop if your cat flattens its ears, lashes its tail or hides. Avoid playing hiss sounds over and over, as they can stress a cat.

Is it free, and is it on Android?

It's free to download on the App Store and Google Play. Premium features require a subscription, which you can cancel any time in your store account settings.

What happens to my recordings?

The app needs microphone access to hear the meow or phrase you want to translate. The privacy details on its App Store and Google Play listings show exactly what is collected, and our privacy policy explains how data is used and how to request deletion.
